Lacertus Group and new Website Changes
Recently a lot of work has gone into some new things for the clan. You would of noticed the recent DNS transfer, now that this is done this allows us to do new things.
You will now be able to use the IPs of Mc.kingdomoflacertus.com TF2.kingdomoflacertus.com and Voice.kingdomoflacertus.com:10256 for the MC server, the TF2 server and the Teamspeak respectively.
We will soon have new website pages with information about different sections of the clan, like the rules, servers, donations, and staff pages.
Clan staff will receive their own emails, for example JamesLove@Kingdomoflacertus.com
Over the last two months, with the help of Bleese, 2kanman, Spuzza and Blue, I have been working on a project that we have called “The Team”. There are four sections of this, each with it’s own roles and focus. Although there may be four sections, some projects may involve multiple or even all sections.
Unlike the positions of server staff and Clan leaders, we will be taking applications for these positions from anyone who wishes to apply. You may apply for as little or as many as you wish, for example an Event Organiser may also be a Competition Organiser. A Writer may also be a Coder.
Here is a basic application template, we would like to see this information included in the application but anything you wish to include additionally is great! Don’t worry about your application being too long.

These are the roles and their descriptions
Lacertus Events
Event Organizer:
KoL has many events to try and increase activity and fun throughout the clan, these events could not be possible without event organizers. An event organizer can do things from large events such as the yearly anniversary, down to small scale events that promote activity in servers. these include temporary game-mode changes, scheduled play times, clan battles and so forth. Event organizers will need to show good skills in organisation.
Competition Organizer:
Competition Organizers will work on competitions within the clan, competitions such as Minecraft build contest, TF2 rank contests, Art comps and any other competitions, they may be responsible for things such as thinking of competition ideas, monitoring and maintaining competitions, setting rules and guidelines for competitions, publicity, obtaining prizes and judging.
Lacertus Media
Recorders:
In order to make a video one needs to have footage and in order to have footage one needs a recorder. Recorders are the designated camera men of Lacertus Media; they will be recording things in and out of game for the videos of Lacertus Media including gameplay. Recorders need to be confident with camera work and video/screen capture programs!
Editor:
Raw footage does not make a good video; a video requires a use of an editor! Editors have the duty to properly synthesis videos to make them interesting to watch by making it aesthetic and cutting out the dull parts. To be an editor you need to be confident with video editing software and need to have good taste in what is considered entertaining!
Musician:
Are you a master of sound and the musical arts? Then come be a musician! Musicians are responsible for creating musical pieces for the clan, this could be for events, videos that KoL members are doing or even as prizes. Whether you’re a music producer, a mixer or a piano player, if you can submit music to KoL this groups is the one for you!
Graphic Designers:
The KoL symbol, the event banners and the forum icons all have one thing in common; they were done by a graphic Designer (Previously known as KoL Artists)! Graphic Designers are heavily sought after by KoL staff, they are responsible for creating the many artistic pictures of KoL, including but not limited to rank icons, flashy event banners, scrolls and many more visual aesthetics for KoL!
Lacertus Communications
Writer:
The most used form of communication around KoL is in writing, whether it’s for starting up events or not, KoL will always need writers. Writers are the people who are specially equipped to word out events, definitions and descriptions around KoL. A writer's main task is to communicate an idea in an informative, logical and yet exciting way.
Narrator:
If you want to star in your own video and be the spokesperson for KoL, then this is the role for you. A Narrators task is to be the voice of KoL by narrating videos (such as a lets play) or informing KoL about events through your beautiful voice. Generally narrators need to have a mature voice and must be excellent speakers!
Public Relations:
With all of our game servers in different games we would like to start having a forum thread on that game’s forum, along with other things such as a Youtube channel and a Steam group this is a lot of forum threads to manage for the clan! Public Relations people manage and update these threads and pages with up to date information, distribute announcements in the different sources, manage the website’s calendar, schedule events on the Steam group, and post a summary of events that have taken place.
Recruiter:
The heart, soul, brain and body of the clan come from the players of the clan and the more quality players that join the clan the better. Recruiters are responsible for getting these quality players into the clan, recruiters need to advertise the clans existence and encourage quality people to join the clan. Recruiters are seen as extremely beneficial for the clan and one vouch by a recruiter will mean a player is allowed access to the clan.
Lacertus Software
Web Developer:
The thing you are on right now is our website; all of its awesome features are hand crafted by our very talented web developers. Web developers are in charge of the web site, keeping the website safe, stable and modern by consistently adding needed plugins to meet the current demands of KoL members. Web developers need to be confident in coding HTML, PhP, Javascript or SQL.
Coder:
One of the best things to show on a KoL game server is custom, user created content. Coders will be responsible for creating mods, tweaks or plugins for the many game servers of KoL both present and future, Coders are essential for popular game servers! Coders need to be confident in programming or willing to invest the large amount of time it takes to learn (the language depends on the game the Coders is coding on).
If you know anyone who you think has tallents that would be well suited to these roles, send them a message, tell them what it’s about and put them into contact with myself, 2kanman or Spuzza, and/or get them to fill out an application!
As applications come in, they will be reviewed and sometime in the next week we will notify applicants via the website’s PM system wether or not they have been accepted, soon following this will be announcement to the clan listing who has been selected for what position.

KoL is today releasing a new server, a Minecraft Feed The Beast Ultimate server, (website here) On this server players are free to do what they wish, whether that be building a city, joining in on the effort to make a KoL Capital, being a wandering trader, a man who installs certain contraptions and sets up machinery, a mayor or a tycoon, the server will have something for you. We will also be soon releasing the server to the public via the Minecraft and feed the beast forums, KoL members may invite whoever they wish before this time however. The server abides by a no griefing rule and the general KoL rules:
Events
The Kingdom of Lacertus FTB server will have regular scheduled events,these will be often built on a new world that opens at a certain time. These event locations are built by the server's events team. Events will range from pvp arenas, spleef, mazes, dungeons, portal levels, puzzles, adventures and more.
If you would like to join the events team, send me a message on the website, it would be good to have this events team comprised of KoL members!
So come, bring along some other friends and have a play on the new KoL MC Server!

KoL has been around for almost 4 years now, and over this time many people have been promoted to leadership ranks such as Noble and Lord. It has been decided that a reshuffle of ranks, to remove those who are no longer active in clan affairs in place of ones who are. This does not mean that the person is necessarily inactive in the clan. Although some are such as Bletzkarn, Setveen, Fatcreeper, Sgt_Captian (All Lords) Many are still active in the KoL community, such as RedYoshi.

Due to a lot of busyness and other priorities in my life, I've decided to formally step down from Duke of the Kingdom of Lacertus clan. What this will mean is that I will be reverted back to lord and although I still retain all the permissions a lord would retain, I am no longer officially seen as a clan co-leader. But I do believe that the clan needs a co-leader, because even a king needs an adviser and Darkfire002 agrees with me on this. Thus, we are going to be finding a new Duke to replace me, the new Duke will need to have ALL four of these qualities.
1) He/she needs to be a good leader (this is a blanket term for good management, mature, reasonable, etc, etc, etc)
2) He/she needs to be passionate and active (If they are not active they need to make the same decision I'm making now)
3) He/she need to be able to, without fear, stand up to darkfire002 and say "You're wrong" or "I disagree with you", and explain why. Someone who just agrees with darkfire002 is pretty useless, so you need to be critical.
4) Darkfire002 needs to respect you, otherwise the whole thing will fall apart
As said before, a person must retain ALL of these qualities at all times of being a duke, whether someone does or doesn't retain these qualities is up to Darkfire002. I have served well in the clan and enjoyed my time here (I am not disappearing, I still will be around, just less active) and I hope the next duke does a good job as well!

The Kingdom of Lacertus VS Kickass Servers Competition
The April 2013 Kickass vs KoL tournament.
This tournament is a friendly competition between two communities as they battle to see who will emerge victorious
The tournament will be split up into 3 sections.
- Team Fortress 2
- Garry's Mod
- Counterstrike Source
Each community will have to make up teams to represent this competition, with at least one high-ranking member on each team.
The team numbers will differ for each game and will be explained later.
Team Fortress 2
This will be hosted by KoL
5 different maps will be played for TF2, trying all different gamemodes.
The gamemodes will be CTF, Arena, CP, Payload and Medieval for fun.
There will be no restrictions for items used.
The teams will be consisted of 9 per team, everyone filling out each of the classes.
Garry's Mod [Fretta]
The games are yet to be decided. (Either 2 or 3 will be played)
This event will be held on Kickass's Dedicated Server.
The games played will be on Fretta
The winner will be based on a points system.
There are sub-games since this is on fretta.
6 people per team
S.T.A.L.K.E.R:
One person is elected as Stalker. This will go 2 maps or 20 rounds, depending which will be better.
Who ever reaches the most points wins a point for their community.
GarryWare:
Play a round of GarryWare. Whoever has the most points in the end wins a point for their community.
Suicide Barrels:
7 Rounds of Suicide Barrels. However, since I don't know the best way, 2 ways points can be earmed.
1. Whoever is the last person standing, obviously wins
2. If 2 people from different teams win, it is a draw
3. If the last person is killed from a team, the other team wins
4. If both teams die at the same time, it is a draw
In the 7 rounds, whoever wins the most points, wins a point for their community.
UTF (Ultimate Football Touchdown):
Depending on how long the game will go for (probably 20 minutes), who ever reaches the goal
or has the most points at the end of the game will win points for their community.
Deathrun:
With this, whoever reaches the most points at the end of 3 different Deathrun maps.
The maps will be chosen by, 1 from Kickass, 1 from KoL and 1 random (probably a new one no-one knows about)

EDIT: Allot of KoL's, including me! don't know many of these game modes, so who would be interested in an event where we all go play fretta and try it out? Let me know in the replys and if people want i can organize something
Counterstrike Source
This will be held on Kickass's Dedicated Server
This will be the decider each community wins one of the other games.
It will be played on 3 maps with 5 players per team.
The maps will be cs_office, de_dust2 and an optional map. (Probably a fun map like fy_iceworld or something similar)

On Saturday night, the 30th of March, KoL will be hosting a League of Legends event. At this stage the event will be 5v5s. Players of all skill levels are invited to sign up to participate.

I don't have League of Legends / am a low level, will I get left behind?
There will be at a minimum, One low level game against either other low level players, or beginner bots. In this game will be all of the people who are absolutely new to this game and have decided to give it a go, and all of the new players. KoL currently has a fair few who have started playing only recently, so do not worry about being outmatched with higher level opponents.
How will we all be playing together?
We will be using the KoL TeamSpeak during the event for teams to be able to speak to each other, if you do not have a mic that is fine, as the ability to hear your team speak to you helps allot in a game like this. Stopping to type an important message is often not a possibility.
I look forward to seeing familiar faces as well as new players at this event! Have fun!

The KoL Teamspeak is now up and configured! Any KoL member may come online and use it for chat and voice and remember to find the IP at any time in the server tab! You will find groups of people here just hanging out, or maybe playing a game like League of Legends. Come join us!
New Donator +Benefits
People who are a Donator +, now have two new benefits.
Firstly, due to a lot of demand, Donators can now request to have their forum name changed! (This may not be done excessively and the forum staff make the final call if the name change is appropriate.)
Secondly, there is a place on the Teamspeak called 'The Palace'. In the Palace Donator + are allowed to have their own channel! You may not create groups for other members but you can use your own group and loan it to other members if you want.
Thirdly, the forum staff have been discussing something and we're planning on implementing it soon! We're not ready to give out details yet, but just know it will significantly expand how you see KoL.

1st of March Meeting Results
UPDATE:[5/3/2013] Due to issues with the previous server provider, the server has been changed to the Hypernia provider. I am aiming to have all channels and groups set back up by 8pm on Tuesday. If you come online at 8pm on Tuesday you can have all of your ranks and badges given to you then.
- CP/PL server will be discontinued
- Quadeye now has 24 slots rather than 32 (Seems to have attracted new players!)
- We now have a Teamspeak, IP: 27.50.71.250:10256 Feel free to join us (Thankyou to Mokonah ♥!)
Additionally, several ideas for increasing activity on the TF2 server were presented, and in this thread is a vote. Those ideas are:
- Have Bots on the TF2 server
- Custom Maps
- Random Boss Battles
- Do Not Change Anything
The Tf2 server is doing really well at the moment so it might be good to emphasis that we might not implement these changes if the TF2 server is already, through other means, active.
